Substitution bias
Substitution bias is a kind of bias where instead of making computationally complicated judgement about an issue, the person substitutes that with a simpler heuristic. The person is basically changing (unconsiously), the complex question into a much simpler question. The person can be completely unaware of this.
For example:
- You choose a leader because of how good their posture and oration skills are, not how good their leadership is.
- You make value judgements about specific attributes of a person using their religion or caste or dressing sense.
