States have a Monopoly over the territory they occupy. The world is has been divided into pieces where states and their government have absolute control.
No alternatives or competetions are allowed. If the government wants, it can make your life hell. You cant just ditch a state and switch to another like you can with an Internet provider. People have no choice but to accept decisions which they disagree with like tax levels, public services, personal freedom and so on.
