If you're looking for something in life, a prophecy or divinition could give you a heuristic. This heuristic would work like a heuristic should but also like a heuristic function.
It could help you make decisions which help you move closer to the desired goal with less experimentation. Since there is not deterministic endpoint to anything, whatever you find could be easily attributed to the prophecy.
